Phase Inverters are also known to
be called Variable Frequency Drives. Phase inverters are
basically known to control the speed of electric motors. They are designed
to run some three phase motors on single phase supply but they in no way can
power any other three phase load. They can only handle one piece of
equipment and no more than that.
The phase inverters can never be
used with any mixed load. They are very very sensitive and their
operating life is very limited. They don't last very long so in the
long run they will end up costing you more money to run your equipment.
The phase inverter has been known to be damaged very easily from lightning
and what we call voltage spikes.
When a phase inverter uses a sine
wave it appears to dissect it or chop it up and in turn converts it into
dissected three phase sine waves. Then we have what we call harmonic
distortion which is not good for running your equipment. If you are
trying to produce three phase power from a single phase by using a
phase inverter your ability to have power output frequency is
automatically going to be varied and then it cannot adjust the speed of the
drive it was meant to be used with.
 Due
to the intricate sensitivity of the phase inverter, the cost to you
as the consumer is much higher than a regular
phase converter. And because of the
sensitivity in the phase inverter they tend to get damaged more often
and there aren't many manufacturers that do repairs on them. So this means
more cost again to you the consumer and your business may suffer due to down
time. But most companies will tell you different. So please beware if
you are going to purchase a phase inverter.

nowadays manufacturers are trying to produce much higher quality phase
inverters but always make sure that they know what they are talking
about. You don't want to end up not having the proper phase inverter to run
your three phase power equipment and you definitely want it to run perfect
