Information and resources for phase inverters and phase converters. See the different topics that will be discussed.

Phase Inverters
A phase inverter is also known to be called a variable frequency drive. They are used to control the speed of electric motors. Most phase inverters are very sensitive with their circuitry.

Phase Converters
Phase converters transform three phase power from a single phase power source. There are many types of phase converters like static, rotary, digital and CNC phase converters. .

What's the Difference between a Phase Converter and a Phase Inverter
Phase inverters can only run some 3-phase motors on single phase but do not power any other type of 3 phase load. A phase converter converts that single phase power into 3-phase power to run multiple equipment.

Why is Voltage Balance Important When Running Three Phase Equipment
If your voltage balance in slightly imbalanced you can more than likely expect damage to your three phase equipment.

Three Phase Power
Three phase power is the  most desirable and common method of electric power.  Most of the machinery today is designed with three phase power capabilities.

Benefits of Three Phase Equipment
This is the most reliable and least expensive equipment to purchase.  Your equipment will run more efficient and will last for many years.

Benefits of a True Three Phase Rotary Phase Converter
A true three phase rotary phase converter will provide you with balanced power loads that will last you for years to come.

ACE Phase Converters
The leading manufacturer of a good quality phase converter. ACE Phase Converter has been in business for over 25 yrs offering a 10 year warranty on all of their phase converters.

Phase Converter Alternatives
Utility companies can provide you with three phase power but it will cost you dearly as they will have to completely change your power lines. You can re-locate to someplace that already provides three phase power.

THREE PHASE POWER

Phase Converters

Phase Converters were designed and invented almost 100 years ago to solve three phase power solutions.  When a utility company comes up to set up the power sources in your area they usually only provide single phase power. Some machinery and equipment, however, need to run on three phase power thus the phase converters were designed to do just that.  A phase converter is a device that will actually convert your single phase power into three phase power. The phase converters have solved the costly expense of having your utility company come in and install three phase power to your location or area which costs thousands of dollars to have done.

Phase converters are used to supply three phase power to equipment like conveyer belts, sanders, ovens, mixers and welding machines, industrial motors, pumps and many more. They can be used in the home or for your business needs.  Actually,  wherever your three phase power solution is needed.

Some phase converters, however, can cause disruption in your equipment or machinery but with all of the technology today, many manufacturers have learned this and have designed good quality phase converters.  They have learned that you need to have the correct voltage and that your electrical current needs to be completely balanced with good harmonics, thus giving your equipment or machinery the full operating capacity of three phase power. When looking to purchase a phase converter, make sure that the manufacturer is giving you what you are actually looking for.  If you have machinery that is going to need three phase power all the way through the operation of the equipment, you need to make sure that the phase converter you have chosen will do that.  Some phase converters will only give you that three phase power at start up and then your equipment isn't working properly during the rest of the operation.  This could result in your equipment burning up.

There are many types of phase converters out there on the market.  There is the static phase converter which is the one that will only start your equipment as it is made up of two components, a voltage sensitive relay and a standard capacitor which is connected to your motor on your equipment.  What happens is the capacitor is used to start the motor and then the relay will disconnect the capacitor which leaves your equipment running back on that single phase power.  Static phase converters are basically only used on small motors due to this result.  They do not balance the voltages which could cause your equipment to lose it's lifespan that you were thinking you were getting when you purchased the equipment or machinery.

Then there are the rotary phase converters in which if you are running large equipment or machinery, this is the type to purchase. One of the benefits of a rotary phase converter is that you are able to run more than one piece of equipment with them.  With a true three phase rotary converter, your machinery or equipment will run smoothly through it's entire operation. You are getting true three phase power from the start up and it will continue running on that true three phase power through it's entirety of the operation.  A rotary phase converter has what we call a bank of capacitors that are wired to each other and they act as a single capacitor unlike the static phase converter. The rotary phase converters use its motor to power the third leg of power and then passes the power onto the other two legs of power that is provided by your single phase source of power. You will find that all of your power is balanced and will improve the lifespan of your equipment and you will enjoy a smooth operation.

Phase ConverterWhen looking for a manufacturer for  phase converters, always look for the best.  One that has been in business for a long time and offers a good warranty.  We have found in our studies that ACE Phase Converters are one of the best around when looking for good quality phase converters.  They have been around for a long time and use the highest quality of materials to design and manufacture their phase converters.  You always have to make sure that you are getting what you need cause some companies try to tell you that you are getting true three phase converters in which you are not.  The end result that you want is A+ performance on your equipment and with a true three phase converter you should be assured that you are getting that.
